Dallas-based airBand Communications, a broadband wireless service provider focused on business customers, announced that John McLeod, the former chief operating officer at Broadwing Communications, will join airBand on Nov. 7 as executive vice president of operations and technology. McLeod is at least the second former Broadwing executive to join airBand in the last two months--ex-Broadwing CEO Mark Spagnolo became CEO of airBand on Aug. 31.
Austin-based Broadwing had announced on Oct. 13 that McLeod was leaving the company effective Nov. 6, though no public information on his future plans became available until this week. He had been with Broadwing only since May of this year.
McLeod is a 21-year veteran of the telecom industry who also previously had been senior vice president of operations at Metromedia Fiber Network. In his new role at airBand, McLeod will lead all aspects of operations, including engineering, provisioning, field operations, customer care and information technology, according to airBand
