That was kinda my point. I guess you COULD get Dish for your business. But why would you want to? Unless you are a specific-school-bar for a Pac12 school, what could Dish offer that Directv doesn't and Directv has so much more. Maybe a hotel would get it? I dunno, I have never seen Dish at any type of business, but I have seen a MDV apartment building fake cable system fed by Dish once.

Businesses like that don't need TV at all. Everyone in the waiting room is going to be looking at their phone, so the business owner would be wasting their money paying for TV no matter how cheap it was.

And some still show stretched SD on it. Sigh.

I have seen D* at MANY Hotel/Motels, but rarely DISH.

I would guess 40:1

Thats interesting, they go with a flat monthly fee for Bars, not by how many it seats.

I'm curious how D* compares ... (I know D* has much more to offer sports wise.)

Directv it’s generally a flat rate for less than 100 based on “evo” which is estimated viewing occupancy.

You can have more than 100 seats, but it’s how many will view it at one time.

Most of the businesses we do are less then 100 seats.

Then you have “FOC” which is fire occupancy certificate. This is either what the fire marshall says the max number of people in a bar, or a certificate from the city stating the max number allowed. Generally this is used for sports packages like NFL, MLB etc.

You could have a bar with an EVO of 100, but an FOC of 150 for Sunday ticket purposes.

I think right now Directv is like $85 for a bar on a 2 year agreement, plus $15 per receiver, plus $25.99 regional sports fee.

There is another package called commercial choice plus which I believe the EVO is higher around 200 people, but the receiver fee is capped at $90.

You can have up to 40 HD receivers on an account.

There are certain situations where a bar may have 25 Tv’s and we will actually say the EVO is 200, go with commercial choice plus as the receiver fees are capped at $90

Last time I did the math it was 16 or 18 receivers where the higher EVO made sense. It used to be 11 receivers a few years back.

But Directv is the only way to go for Tv in a business. Putting in Dish in any scenario for a business is just stupid.

I can say this. Every Bar I have ever sold Dish to, now has Directv. That goes back to even when all I sold was Dish. Unfortunately when I started selling commercial Directv, I didn’t get to flip over all of my bar customers. Most has already switched before I got to them.

But other then that, it’s all in the receiver fees. If it’s a business viewing it’s $7 for the first 9, then I think it drops to $4 for 10-20 and $2 for anything over 21 is $2 for each box.

I have many fitness places that have 50 machines where we have a mini headend installed with 20 or so channels.

Everyone is adding television, even if it’s just on CNN or Fox News all day.

Even the fast food restaurants are adding Tv’s which in my opinion is just dumb as I never see anyone watching it
