Advent HD-ready TV under $400 at BB

I was browsing at Best Buy yesterday and came across the Advent 27" HD monitor . I could have sworn that the shelf tag said $300 but the price on the website shows $379.00. The picture was OK, but I wonder how high the definition really is on a set in this price range? I thought the Panasonic 27" HDTV set I just bought at CC was the cheapest one available. Looks like there is a new low price champ!

By the way, if you get a chance to check out the Panasonic, for $545 the picture is really good! Sure it isn't widescreen, but most of our viewing is in the 4:3 format. It is really good at handling 16:9 content too, with very little obvious "stretching" of the picture. The fish tank on the Dish HD demo channel looks really cool!

rather have one with receiver and card slot built-in

I'd rather wait to get one at a good price with both an HDTV over the air receiver and a card slot built-in to get the best of both worlds.

I would not consider this TV because it is 4:3 and no HDMI.
Now if I wanted a small TV for gaming this would be ok..

I considered that myself, since the Panasonic that I bought recently is also 4:3 with no HDMI. The most important consideration for me at the time was pleasing my wife, who was not willing to part with the cabinet the old TV was in, and will only accomodate a 4:3 27" set. I would have been REALLY happy with the Samsung 27" set but it was slightly too wide to fit in the cabinet. The way I see it, even though it doesn't have HDMI or DVI it will still make a pretty decent set for the bedroom when I finally get my new 60" DLP set in a year or two. By then I should have talked my wife out of keeping that cabinet!

Ive got a 27"Samsung 4:3 that has yet to make it into the house... had for over a year(in camper)it wont fit into the Entertainment Center in Bedroom...(Heavy son of gun too)
