The $7.00 fee you are referring to is the lease fee not the hd enabling fee. That fee was first reduced back down to $5.00 and then done away with . The lease fee will be charged for any extra receiver on your account after the first receiver on your account. DISH did away with the hd enabling fee because they want to upgrade people to the newer mpeg 4 receivers and because there are areas with hd & some sd locals and they can only be picked up with an hd mpeg 4 receiver. They must of thought they would lose subs if they forced new subs to go with and hd receiver and forced them to either pay $5.00 or sub to hd pack at $10.00 . They were right. Even DIRECTV stopped charging for new subs in these same situations, their $10.00 tech fee for their mpeg4 receivers. Yes, DISH still lists the hd enabling fee on their website and under fees. They haven't updated their sites or fees yet to reflect the change.
