Adult Blackout Question

Can anyone explain why E* initiated this adult blackout? When I spoke to the tech support person (if you could call that "speaking") they could not explain why other than it was a new law for my state. I find that difficult to believe seeing as our state legislature meets biannually and it will be next year until general session is held. Also, it sounds like the blackout was initiated in several states at the same time. Seems coincidental that all states passed this law at the same time. I thought it could possibly be an FCC issue, but if so why would it only effect certain states. Hopefully someone can fill me in on the WHY!

It seems asconine that I am free to go rent adult movies, download them off of the internet, but cannot watch in the privacy of my home. I had the monthly package (xstasy or something like that) for years, and as soon as I upgraded to HD, everything got blacked out!! Well, I guess I just have to hope that whoever made that decision doesn't one day decide that the news is offensive!!! So, my next question is...... does anyone know of a "workaround" for this? Different address, etc??

If anyone can give me some answers I would be appreciative

Thanks,

Need to know where you are located.

Are you sure the upgrade to HD the adult channels might be turned off by mistake?

1. E* = Dishnetwork... yeah, i have dishnetwork

2. I KNOW the HD upgrade had absoloutely nothing to do with the blackout... just was trying to make a tongue in cheek statement about the irony of it, and not being able to see porn in HD.... dry attempt at humor I guess.....

3. I live in ARKANSAS... which is another point I find to be ironic.....Home of Clinton, etc......

I am just trying to find out by what authority is this being done. I can find no state law to this effect, and I find it amazing that NO ONE can tell my WHY.... not even dishnetwork. PLEASE if anyone knows let me know. Also, FYI.... I do know the state laws pretty well, as I have been in the "legal industry" 19 years.

Porn legality is based on your communities standards as determined by YOUR attorney general. If he is very religious, then he may determine that your(his) community does not allow porn. He then proceeds to prosecute any book store or video store selling the stuff. He can also notify sat distributors that they may not sell it in his(oh! I mean your) community or he will prosecute them. Federal courts determined that community standards determine the acceptability of porn in your area.

anyone know where you can find a list of counties or states that blackout or allow porn?

i have been told that all of NC is blacked out. im in a small town that up until a few years ago was strictly a bible thump town. however, now we have a local adult vid, toy, book store. and a strip club. wohooo!
is this an indication that there may not be a black out?

i do not have sat. but am headed that way. just trying to see what i can and cant get.

I do not think that all of NC is blacked out, I may be wrong. I know that the Western Counties in NC are blacked out, but I thought that the Eastern were not. And yes it is a Bible belt thing that I thought went by zip code.

The good Lord giveth us porn and the good Lord taketh away our porn. Yet another reason to switch to Tardism, the religion of Pornographers everywhere. A vote for Tardism is a vote for High Definition smut! Really, Standard Def is fine for porn. With High Definition, you can generally get a better view of all the sores on the actresses. :D
