I don't know if i'm just retarded, but i got a Motorola HD reciever (no DVR) over the weekend from adelphia, and i can not for the life of me figure out how to get the SD channels to upconvert to 1080i. I had this same exact box with comcast cable a year or so ago, and was able to do it just fine. Dont' tell me that the crap adelphia firmware doesn't allow you to do this.

I think I have the same receiver you're talking about. Did you get the Adelphia instruction pamphlet from your installer? The page titled "Optimizing Your HD Picture" may be what you're looking for.

"The final step is tailoring your cable box to the capabilities of your HDTV using the On Screen Menu. This allows the cable box to automatically optimize both Standard and High-Definition video, based on your HDTV and personal preferences."

"To access the On Screen Menu, power ON your HDTV and power OFF the cable box. Press the MENU button on either your remote control or the cable box front panel to call up the On Screen Display. You may use either the cable box front panel or the remote control to navigate the display."

At that point you get a text menu that lets you select 1080i, 16:9 format, etc.

There's more in the instruction manual but you'll probably find it self explanatory once you have the menu on the screen.

oh sh*t nice, i didn't get a manual. Only a manual for the remote. So gotta go into the menu with the power off.
