Additional rcvr fees: Where was I when they stopped that?

I just finished a long online chat with a CSR because I couldn't make out the fee I thought there should be for my trailer ("RV") 301 and after eight or ten exchanges I was made to understand I could even add two purchased 211's and not get charged any increase in monthly fees.

When did this policy go into effect?

It used to be five bucks for the trailer rcvr so I used to turn it off when ever I got back from a trip.

WTF, over?
 
I've had a 211 in my basement for over a year that has never been hooked into a phone line and never charged the fee.

The upstairs 211 and 622 are however online so maybe that is why.

Well call to have one authorized and ask if it will increase your bill.

Basically.. Sombody lied to you.. Each receiver has a $5 or $6 fee. It can be called a lease fee or a mirror fee depending on whether you own it or lease it.. If you are not being charged this then my best advice is to keep quiet and never tell a soul.. But I would advise you to double check the math on the bill.. It's always there.

Here is how she explained my bill for TWO receivers, a 622 and a 301:

I also think she was wrong because I found this by seaching the Dish Website:
DISH Network will charge you a monthly Additional Outlet Programming Access Fee for each additional receiver added to your account.

It's in the last paragraph on page 143 in item 1-F, in the middle.

But then why just charge me 5 for a leased receiver and not 5 for leasing and another 5 for additional outlet?

The first receiver is included in your basic programming price. Any additional receiver have a $5-$6 fee. If it is a leased receiver, it is listed as a leased receiver fee, if it is owned it is listed as an additional outlet fee. So if you lease a receiver you are not getting charged for leasing and additional outlet.

So there is no point in anyone ever buying a receiver? You never save money doing that?

And are you saying an extra outlet is 5 or 6 bucks and you can have a free receiver if you want one?

I'm not arguing with you. I could totally believe Dish is that nuts. It just makes not sense at all.

Does all this apply to HD and HD DVR receivers as well?

She said I had the Top 200 when I have had the Top 250 for years.

Oh well.

And she sounded SO SURE!

I'm gonna be very very quiet about this..... but the additional receiver access fee has disappeared from my bill. At least it disappeared off my latest bill. I'll have to wait and see if it comes back on next month's.

If you are on the DVR Advantage program, then everyone shows up as AT200, with the AT250 "Bonus Pack" or something like that listed somewhere else. The AT250 shows up as an add-on to the AT200. That's probably what she was looking at.

Agreed. I have AT250 DVR Advantage. My bill shows as DVR Advantage with 3 premiums. I have HBO and Cinemax. So I'm like... "huh? Am I entitled to a third movie channel?"

Nope... turns out the "third premium" is the bump up from AT200 to AT250.

I've been checking for three days and it's true with these qualifications:

IF you lease a receiver you will be charged a $5 lease fee in lieu of an additional receiver fee.

The ONLY WAY to lease a receiver from dish is through the "Dishn'it Up" deal and you can can't do this more than one time in a year.

I just tried to replace my leased 301D with a leased 211 and the answer was in effect, "no way, no how."

ERGO, "Dishn'it Up" is an even better deal than it seemed before this "no additional receiver fee" detail was outed.

****Though since it is not written anywhere it could be gone in a blink.****

Has anyone had a different experience in this situation?
