Adding fabric to back of tv stand?

Here is the stand, and if you look over the denon, you can see it has the normal slotted back inserts

The stand is a sanus and built well, but those damn inserts make things a pain, especially with everything I need to cram in now. Once I push it into place I have no rear access to anything without an act of Congress. My thought was to get some sort of black fabric/cloth, spray it to make it resistant to flames, and then cut it to size for the back. That way when I want to get to that stuff, I can just flip the fabric forward up over the center. I dont really have any other idea, but the current access level isnt gonna work...
 
How about less stuff in the stand? ;)

Seriously, that's the problem with many stands. You might want to look at someplace that does flame retardant materials for stage productions. Rose Brand is a great source for this type of materials, and you don't need to homebrew your work.
