Adding and subtracting premiums for an event?

I apologize if this has been asked before. I did a search but wasn't able to find anything.

Is it possible to add a premium (ex. HBO) for a specific event (ex. boxing match) only? In other words, can you subscribe to the premium the day of the event and cancel the next day for the pro-rated price? I assume you are charged for the whole month but I wanted to check.

Dish will normally charge you a downgrade fee, I beleive it is $5.
