If I need to replace my actuator on the 10 foot dish can I change to a newer style? I am wondering about the rj6 wire to operate the dish. I believe it is 36 inch actuator . My actuator is now hard wired from the 450i General Instrument receiver . The actuator will not turn the two cams which are the main control operators. Only the top one will turn but it is just a small movement. The actuator is a von weise. I do not know if von weise makes an actuator with rj6 wire to control the dish.

There are no acuators for a big dish to control the dish, there are interface boxes such as the V-boxII but they still use the same wires to control the dish (and the same kind of actuator that you currently have). If your acuator isn't working you will need to replace it with a similar type and hook it back up to your GI 450i to control the dish.
