I've been on the AEP for a good 24 months but it's time to throttle back. Kids are older and the summer is coming so there is no need to hibernate.

It's time to reconfigure to avoid DVR fees and the like. So here is what I have, where can I go?

Looks like I may go with the 120 package as my wife likes the music. (or would 60 be better and just get sirius and a home box?)

My Equipment is:

Dish 500 antenna
Original Dish QUAD LNB
1 - DVR 501
1 - DVR 510
1 - DVR 522
Feeding 4 rooms.

My thoughts were to get rid of the 501, 510 and get another 522. But with the MPEG4 things going on I'm not sure what I would want to do.

Suggestions? (The 501 and 510 are mine... the 522 is a lease)

Note there is no HDTV in our future for the next 12 months for sure.

the 510 and 522 both have that DVR fee, so add 12 bucks to your bill plus extra receiver fees.

My 522 has gotten cranky lately and I was giving serious thought to going to 322 and SA tivos, then tivo dropped the lifetime service:(

Just picked up a e bay 522, never activated for $115 includuing shipping, I checked the ROO number. clean!

its just the box, no manuals cables etc, which I dont need anyway. got it as a spare for when a 522 dies. I think the MPEG4 situation is overblown, and wouldnt effect SD subs for years. By that time the 522 will be obsolete anyway!

So if I stay status quo on the hardware and just downgrade the service.

Looks like a go from
DVR FEE - 0
DVR FEE - 0
AEP w/locals - 89.99
Lease Fee - 5
Addl Receiver - 5
Ext Warranty - 1.99

To:
DVR FEE - 5.98
DVR FEE - 5.98
AT120 w/locals - 44.99
Lease Fee - 5
Addl Receiver - 5
Ext Warranty - 1.99

Which nets out to a savings of $33.04 a month. (plus tax)
