About to get Dish, ust a few questions!

Hey everyone, glad to have oined the board

Just a few quick questions for everyone out there. Im just about ready to ditch my cable co and move to E*. My biggest question right now is, is it worth it to sign the 18 month committment? Its not really the committment im worried about, just wondering if the stuff included is worth being locked in.

If I dont sign up, does that mean if their equipment breaks I have to buy new stuff?

Just a little help would be great.

Claude, from The dish Store, a major advertiser here, has a pretty sweet deal I just signed up with, and he has put together some literature that makes the 18 month question a little easier to understand..

one more question. when i order new service, will i be getting an MPEG4 receiver? or do i have to pay extra for that?

Mpeg4 is for HD programing. If you are ordering HD then yes, if not probably not.

Is the vIp 622 an MPEG4 receiver?

One more question and maybe ill stop for a while.
Where should I order my service from? Is straight from dishnetwork . com the best bet or should i check out one of those seedy looking stores in my area that offer to install dish?
