Anyone else seeing weird stuff happening on the NY ABC-HD feed?

She's telling me that the test pattern will come up with a message that says "See if you can decode this wiseguy."

Anyone else seeing this?

They have been having some problems with that feed.

It had a DirecTV "troubles" card all morning today.

Sounds like an attack from "Captain Midnight", from the C-Band days of the 80's.

She has it recorded, as it happened during one of her soaps.

I will look when I get home tonight.

She said they were showing old commericals of Monsters, Inc., and old pictures of the NY Skyline, including the Twin Towers.

Sounds like the ABC Test Loop... since they don't do any daily HD other than GMA they use the time during the day to tweak things and let the local affils do the HD tweaks on their receivers.

I saw this on c-band analog over the weekend... If I can find it again I'll try and record it. It struck me as odd because I saw 'ABC HDTV' in the logos and I was watching it on an analog receiver.

Haha, I remember that. I was living in Edmond OK at the time. (I think it was 1986) and we had Cablevision. I remember this one night where all the channels said "$20 a month? No way!!" or something like that. I had totally forgotten about that until you mentioned Captain Midnight. Ahhh..memories!

SoapNet is her friend tonight... :) I too remember Captain Midnight and all the hoopla it caused... I subed to Satellite TV Week the only Weekly Satellite Publication at that time... It beat ORBIT because it gave weekly Raw Feed info and being a weekly was more topical...
