ABC Greenlights Six Degrees; CBS OKs Jericho

[/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]As pilot season revs up, broadcasters ordered a number of scripts into production for consideration on next season's fall schedule. Among the scripts greenlighted were ABC's New York-set soap Six Degrees, from executive producer J.J. Abrams and Touchstone TV.

CBS ordered the Armageddon-like Jericho, about life in a small town following a major nuclear disaster. Produced by Paramount Network TV, the script was written and exec produced by Stephen Chbosky (Rent), with Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure) directing and exec producing, through Turteltaub's development deal with CBS. The network also ordered Orpheus, about a man whose girlfriend is caught up in a cult. The script was written by Nicholas Meyer (The Human Stain), with Ridley and Tony Scott producing, through Paramount Network TV.

Fox is moving ahead with Faceless, about an undercover Fed. Joe Carnahan (Narc) will direct and exec produce, along with Tony Krantz, Daniel Rappaport, and Evelyn O'Neill. The 20th Century Fox TV pilot is written by Dario Scardapane (USA's The Darkling).

Meanwhile, NBC has ordered the two-hour pilot Heroes, about average folks who discover they have super powers, from Crossing Jordan creator Tim King and NBC Uni TV Studio. The network also ordered Seeing Red, from writer/producer Graham Yost (Boomtown), about a cop who solves cases by talking to dead victims. The drama also is from NBC Uni TV.
