A thread for subs to request the 3D Olympic channel for DIRT

I am not watching much if any of the Olympics. I would turn it on if in 3d if for no other reason than to check it out. It is not for ever day usage perhaps but for special events such as this, it is a shame that we don't have it. One of the few times since I swapped that I miss direct.

Programming is not really DIRT's thing, they have view this thread though and hopefully passed the requests through...
as for the numbers speaking for themselves, again take that to another thread and stop trying to sneak the anti 3D agenda in it.
Actually, they handle programming requests. If you contact them directly, and make your request, they will pass it on. They've done it for me in the past. (At least, they've told me they did, and I have no reason to disbelieve them.)

I do agree with the 2nd half of your post, though.

I too want the olympics in 3D. I go to my neighbor's who have Directv 3d. What a major difference 3D makes. In the future I will recommend Directv to anyone who asks.

Add me to the list of those who are very upset about Dish not caring Olympics in 3D.
Dish has dropped the ball on this one! Big time!

I am also extremely upset that Dish is not carrying the Olympics in 3D. I am seriously looking at changing to DirecTV or Comcast due to the AMC issue and this 3D issue. I'm getting really tired of Dish being so much of a rebel that I'm willing to pay my early termination fee just to have a company that doesn't have the attitude that Charlie does. It seems the subscribers are always the ones that get the short straw when it comes to Charlie and his short sighted decisions. The reason that the CSRs are telling callers that they don't have the bandwidth to carry the Olympics in 3D after just taking away the AMC and associated channels is just an insult to our intelligence and common sense. After all, the Olympics are only on for 17 days, so there's no long commitment that might impact other channels in the future.

Other than one year that I changed to Comcast about 4-5 years ago because Dish didn't carry NBC-HD in Indy (all other major locals had been in HD for well over 6 months), I've been a Dish customer for 14-15 years. The first receiver I can remember was the 4000 receiver, but there may have been one before that model. I am currently an AEP subscriber, with 2 722K receivers and Charlie's attitude has pushed me to my limits.

I would really like to watch the Olympics in 3D, and would pay- like - 10 bucks or so extra for the two weeks in 3D. Have read much on the web about the opening in 3D, that it was
fantastic. My latest 3D TV is a Sharp 70" and 3D Olympics would be awesome on it. I believe the bandwidth excuse is bogus, and I'm surprised the CSRs are allowed to
say it.

I have both providers, but Dish is my favorite for archiving, the Olympics finally made me jump on a Optoma HD33 FPTV, got it hooked up today, waiting for tonight to watch some big screen Olympics in 3D... (110")

Really? Offered it to satellite operators for FREE in the US? I don't understand why then Dish wouldn't turn on that single channel for 2 weeks... If it cost them money and the price wasn't cost justified, then I would understand from a business side of things. But for free? Unless there is a shortage of bandwidth I am very surprised that they wouldn't do it for free.

It was FREE, they had the bandwidth (AMC), they don't care.
Quite frankly, it is more than simply not caring. They made a deliberate, pro-active decision to be the one carrier not carrying the free-for-them broadcast.

It would have probably been less trouble, and cost less, to carry the 3D channel than create the almost-useless Olympics App, and deploy the associated 217 SW, which has probably resulted in a huge increase in CS calls and replacement units being shipped.

Yup this is the new DISH... which to me is not any different then the old DISH... but that's just me.
Meet the new Dish
Same as the old Dish.

Crap. I got fooled again.

As much as I'd like to see the Olympics in 3D, let's start with adding more HD networks. As much as DISH has in HD, there's still quite a few they've missed that we'd all like to see in HD. Then select PPV movies in 3D. Then possibly ESPN in 3D. One step at a time.

BZZZT!!!

Try reading from the beginning of the thread. This is for a part-time during the Olympics only channel.

This thread is for Dish subs to request Dish carry the 3D Olympic channel that almost every other TV carrier in the country will be carrying.

Naysayers - There are other threads for you to bash, blast, poopoo, denigrate, and knock 3DTV. This is not one of them. It is only for requests for the temporary, part-time channel that will be removed after the Olympics is over. Thank you.
