Monsters HD, the 24-hour hi-def channel devoted entirely to horror, has three exciting marathons lined up for this September! First, “Labor Day Weekend of the Dead,” will highlight the best of zombie cinema, with films such as George A. Romero’s classic NIGHT, DAWN and DAY OF THE DEAD, Sam Raimi’s original EVIL DEAD (pictured), Peter Jackson’s DEAD ALIVE and the television premieres of 1933’s Boris Karloff-starrer THE GHOUL and Brian Yuzna’s RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD III. Next up is the Sept. 17 birthday celebration of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, whose 57th year will be honored by three documentaries she hosts and narrates. BRIDE OF MONSTERMANIA, ATTACK OF THE 50 FT. MONSTERMANIA and MONSTERAMA MARATHON trace the history of horror back to the silent era. Elvira, who’s been scaring her way into homes since 1981, is actually retiring this year, so don’t miss the party.
On September 24, “They Came from Outer Space” invades your set as Monsters HD airs an alien marathon, including Abel Ferrara’s BODY SNATCHERS, both version of THE BLOB and KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. Visit Monsters HD’s official site for more info on these and other programming. —Audrey Quaranta
