A Lyngsat question.

I'm going to show my extreme ignorance by asking this question:
Why does the Pentagon channel on G10R (listed as in the clear on Lingsat)
have "DVB" listed in the encryption column instead of the white box with a "F"
like most of the others.
I've seen this on several channels and don't understand. I know that I should by now. It's starting to bother me.

Seems to have DVB on the first channel of each transponder, its in the Video
Encryption row so I guess it means the signal is digital, then the big F of course means FREE!

Thanks Pete, I guess that if there is only one channel it is listed as DVB (if it is) and if there's more than one channel it has the F? Sorry to be so stupid.

The top line they list if its DVB or DCII (or analog NTSC)
If there is more than one chanenl in that "mux" the top line is just who the channels are through (Globecast, Equity, etc) and the channels below list them. They have to put the "F" there because some channels in the mux may not be free (check the Globecast stuff on IA5)

The A will give you the mailing address of the service and the F will give you the menu that list all FTA services.

Thanks! Lyngsat makes me feel pretty stupid sometimes. The last problem that I had was thinking that I could get FTA that turned out to be digicypher II.

Don't feel bad, it took me awhile to figure it out. Even with Peter's "how to" page.

I remember when lyngsat used to list channels as mpeg2 and not as DVB as they do now. When they changed it to DVB like it is now, I didn't have a clue to what was going on and was more than confused, not to mention a bit lost.
