Trying to help a friend out repointing his dish. Anyways, he's got a Dish 500 pointed at the 119/110 birds. Which LNBF is for which bird???

Center-most LNBF 119 & outer LNBF 110? Or is it the other way around? We got a signal strength in the 120's on the 119 bird, but couldn't get squat on the 110 bird.

Which bird/transponder should we be using during the repointing process?

His azimuth/elevation/skew are pretty much dead on as far as the markings on the dish.

Look under the plastic lnb mount. They are clearly marked. Best for 119 and 110 would be transponders 11, 12 or 13. Skew is accurate, elevation may be up or down 1, Azimuth is a starting point.

LNB mount? Are you talking the the actual part that goes into the straight arm and is held in place with a single screw? Also, does it matter which connector on the lnb he uses? There are two connectors for each of the lnb's?

The bracket (guess I should have used that term) is indeed that piece. If the lnb's are two separate units, both need to be connected. If only one, it then depends on which receiver(s) are being connected and whether you need a switch. More info as to the type of lnb's and receivers would be helpful.

Ok great. But with the 119 peaked in the 120's as far as signal strength, shouldn't I at least be getting a blip on the 110 bird???

Try covering the 110 LNB with a piece of foil.

If your dish is using the 110 LNB to get 119.

You may be 9 degrees off and using the wrong LNB to get 119. In that case you'd have to adjust the dish so that the 119 LNB gets 119 and the 110 LNB gets 110.

First of all you have to know the 3 values Azimuth (direction) elevation angle and skew or tilt. These values vary with your location and must be calculated.Go to the following link to calculate these values. If you still have problems post the name of your town and Province or State and I will calculate them for you.

Azimuth = 246
Elev.= 25
Skew = 124

Verifies you are picking up 119 with the 119 side.

If your mount (mast) isn't level both ways your elevation/azimuth won't be correct either.
