I want to tell of a good Customer service story. We always hear of the bad ones, so I wanted to share my experience.
I have one receiver (301) and a Legacy Twin. Last night while watching the news, the picture would pixelate (those with a free to air box think when the signal is on the threshold), then I would get the “searching for signal” for maybe a second then it was back. This was doing it every 5 minutes or so. I checked signal strength and 125 on the spotbeams and all others over 100 (for TP 11 & 12 on 119 & 110). Watching it a little longer and now its doing it every minute or so. So I run a temporary line and get same thing (grrrr)…So I do the reset (pull the card out, etc) and now the damn thing goes “1 of 5, 2of 5, then back to 1 of 5”
Hook it to another 301 I have in storage and that works fine….so I call Dish at 8:00 CDT last night. Got a nice guy named Jose (he spoke dang good English I might add). I explained right away what I have tried and that I do not a fair amount of satellite (I mentioned SatelliteGuys and he said “oh good. Then you know what you’re doing”
We did the testing and one thing I noticed is we always say to check TP 11 & 12 for signal. He had me check 19 & 20. I was using the temporary line and the signal would give me a solid 100+, and then very quickly drop to either 0 or 40, then back up to 100 for a couple seconds, then back to zero. Didnt see that before (didnt wait long enough) Did a check switch, pull the card, all that stuff and we both starting thinking it’s a bad receiver. Hooked the temp line to the other receiver and bam solid 100 signal and no fluxuation.
So we were able to swap out the box right away. Now I was worried because the box had the blue card in it, but after giving the numbers, Jose told me it was a yellow card. I go “no it isn’t. It’s a b---oh wait it IS a yellow card”
The card is a yellow one but it has all the logos on it (like the blue ones did)
I know there has been many threads on bad customer service, but I’ve had Dish for almost 5 years and every time I have called, I’ve had good experiences….from swapping receivers to switching programming to doing the card swap, it’s always been good.
