This is getting ridiculous. When this channel first got added I thought, this could be decent they have some stuff I'd like to see in HD. There wasn't much in HD at launch, but I thought, OK, no big deal they'll pull it together in a month or so and have an all HD lineup. But no, they still don't have any HD. It is worthless. Case in point - they are showing The Hunt for Red October right now. Now I'm 100% positive that they could show this in HD if they wanted, but no, it is being shown 4x3. I have yet to see anything in HD on this channel! (I've heard that some of the CSIs are in HD, but I haven't actually seen one yet). I sure hope that the channels that are going to be added next month are not like this!

You totally missed the point juan. The point is that there is no reason for an "HD" channel to not be showing HD. It is not E*'s fault. They can only transmit what A&E is sending them, but for A&E to call this an HD channel is a lie. Plain and simple.

I agree, chalk this one up to a cheap channel for Charlie, but it still adds to the HD channel count so it looks good. They should treat this channel like an RSN and only show the HD programs!

I concur. As I mentioned once before, this channel is actually getting WORSE in this regard.

At first the HD content was increasing (albeit slowly) and gave every reason to believe that the new episodes of Flip This House, First 48, SWAT, etc. would be in HD. However, out of all the NEW episodes they've shown of these (and other) series NONE have been in HD. I should have realized when I went to their website and couldn't dig up info on their "HD" schedule that something was wrong.

I don't waste my time any longer with 9419.

BTW: I'm not really blaming Charlie. I don't think he had any idea that A&E was going to drop the ball, and considering the HD he HAS added over the last year I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

=NLK=

I agree, I really don't think this is an E* issue. All the blame goes to A&E for this one. But now that we have seen what happened here, I'm just worried about the new channels in Aug...

I agree A&E HD is a Waste!! Why would anyone tune to it ,the SD A&E atleast fills the screen. Yep just another HD channel Dish can say they have that Directv dosen't. It is blocked on my favorites list!

This is what worries me about all of D* announced national HD channels. Have they switched to HD cameras? Or done extensive tranlations of 35 mm material? I doubt it. If not there is not going to be any real HD.

If you watch A&E 4:3 SD in a zoom mode that fills the screen, why in the world would you not watch A&E HD 4:3 in the same mode and get a significantly clearer picture? Blocking it is cutting of your nose to spite your face.

Yes A&E seems to be pretty sucky

My mom wanted me to record Red Hunt, but I said dont bother, A it will have commercials to skip through and B it probably wont even be in HD

I agree lakebum. When I first got A&EHD on Comcast I figured maybe it was fairly new and it would get better. I actually never tune to the channel HD feed to watch anything because every time I do its not HD.

That channel is embarrassing, hell drop it and give us MOJO.

Oh yeah, and I thought is was pretty damn funny they were showing HFRO this morning with sidebars too.

They show every post-first season Sopranos episode in HD so that's good enough for me. So what there isn't enough HD content yet? At least we have the channel already so when they do release a new series in HD, we won't have to wait for our company to go in negotiations to obtain the channel.

Problem is, much of the stuff A&E shows wasnt shot in HD, but they are doing nothing about upconverting it.

All the premium movie channels do it, HDNET movies does it, A&E needs to start doing or they should call themselves "A&E(1/8)HD".

Zooming doesn't make the picture clearer. It stretches it so much it looks bad on an HD tv. Not the same when its on tv already fit to the screen.

You may be right on Sopranos but I don't know. I've tried to check out Sopranos when I see it in the guide but it wasn't HD. It is possible that all of them I happend to check were first season.

As far as your comment about there not being enough HD content, that is just wrong. And that is my point. All of the movies that they show are available in HD, but they don't show them that way. For instance, as I already pointed out, Hunt for Red October this morning, and now A Few Good Men. Both are not being shown in HD. And I can bet that Bravehart (being shown later today will also not be in HD. Also 24, I am fairly confident that it was shot in HD yet it is not being shown that way.

Its just plain ridiculous that they'd show red october and a few good men on an HD channel not in HD. Arts and Entertainment
