Sorry if this was answered somewhere else but I can not find it.

The 942 remote (#1 or #2) allows you to set up an audio amp on "AUX" button. If you set up your TV on "TV" button you can turn on and change volumn while in "SAT" button mode. Is there a way that you can also have the audio amp turn on when you press the red "TV" button and change volumn when you use the TV volumn buttons?

I think the answer is "no" but I am hoping I am wrong.

Thanks

Actuall, your answer is NO, and YES :)

First the NO: You cannot use the TV Power Button for anything BUT a TV. However, you CAN use the large power button to turn on/off your stereo receiver while in AUX mode, provided your A/V Receiver is programmed to the DISH remote.

And YES:

When you set up the remote to control a TV, the MUTE and VOLUME
buttons control the TV volume. However, if you want to use the AUX
mode to control a tuner or amplifier and the device has a volume
setting, you can set up the remote to control the device’s volume
instead of the TV volume.

To set the remote to control the device’s volume:
1. Press and hold the AUX mode button
for three seconds, and then let go of it. The AUX mode
button will blink.
2. Press the POUND (#) button.
3. Press the plus (+) side of the VOLUME
button.
4. Press the 0 number button.
5. Press the POUND (#) button.
The AUX mode button flashes three times.
6. Press the SAT mode button.
7. Press the plus (+) and minus (-) sides of the
VOLUME button. The device’s volume
changes and the AUX mode button lights
instead of the TV mode button.

To set the remote back to control the TV volume:
1. Press and hold the TV mode button for three seconds,
and then let go of it. The TV mode button will blink.
2. Press the POUND (#) button.
3. Press the plus (+) side of the VOLUME
button.
4. Press the 0 number button.
5. Press the POUND (#) button.
The TV mode button flashes three times.
6. Press the SAT mode button.

Thank you.

I might try the exchange system you were kind enough to provide. While certain "universal" remotes allow two separate componets (e.g. tv & amp volumn) to operate on one button it seems it is not possible with Dish remote. Given many have separate home theatre amps it would be a nice feature.

It would be a nice and a simple feature to have, I agree. But in most cases this would not be sufficient. When you turn on the system to watch satellite TV or to play a DVD, not only you need to turn on several components at once, you also need the AV receiver to go to a specific audio output depending on the source, you need the TV set to go to a specific video input, switch video format and do some other things perhaps. Basically you need to use a programmable universal remote, like Harmony, which does it all with a single button click.

Thanks Ilya

I have a auto switcher that outs Component video/optic sound etc from 4 components, Sat/DVD/HDtuner/ LG HD recorder to TV (video & audio/RCA jacks ) and to Amp by optical cable. Therefore I would like the one mode discribed.

Yeah I'm thinking about eventually buying a harmony remote (even though they are daayum expensive for a remote) -- and thus have been waiting forever to find just the right AV switchbox because I want one that comes with a remote (IR receiving so that the harmony can automatically switch).. :)
