922 Software Update This Week

Yes indeed, I got S118 some time today too, and Home Media works as well as it did before S117 broke it I guess... At least they fixed that glitch quickly, so someone at Dish is obviously looking after us.

S118 is much better than 117. 117 was not going past 3 days of guide and the stuck on black screen problem kept happening (have to view a dvr event to get live TV back).

You have to wait until your receiver number comes up on DISH's list to be upgraded during the nightly reboot so make sure you turn your receiver off(Standby) at night.


You are still able to subscribe to Blockbuster@Home and get the 22 extra channels in your guide to watch, plus order DVDs online,I did.You just can't stream from Blockbuster@Home until you get the upgrade on your 922.

I have the same software version so your not the only one.

Well S118 is proving to be buggy. Today I cannot change channels by punching in the channel number on the remote (up down still works). Also going into the DVR menu now make the picture tiny (like PiP) after leaving the dvr list. I would have to say not ready for prime time again.

This is the exact reason they release software in waves, I have the 922 and I am still on 116, I am patiently waiting to get the new software. if you are on 117 or 118, think of yourself as a beta tester. dont worry, if you (and others) call in, it will be notated and moved up the ranks at dish, and the bugs will be squashed, then once all seems to be running smooth and calls with troubles stop coming in, it will release to ALL 922's, just a matter of time.

In case you haven't seen elsewhere, make sure you check Settings (Yellow) > Updates, to make sure you set the update time for some early pre-dawn hour, when you have the unit powered off, and when you don't have anything set to record. You should get the update, if Dish has set all of the receivers to receiver the S118 update by now.

I believe DIRT has nothing to do with software updates.

I can confirm there is no way to push/pull the update, it is released in waives, for example, receivers with receiver number r019****** - r024****** will get the update. and if you are r018 or lower, or r025 or higher, there is no way to get it. this is one EXAMPLE, there are other ways they can do it as well, geographically, and other ways.
there is NO WAY to force the update. just have to wait.

keep in mind, it is done that way to help squash any software bugs there might be, yes, you don't have the update (nor do I) but when we get it, it should be (basically) bug free, thanks to the people that have the update now.

Looks like by the reports over at the "other place" the Eastern Arc" is getting this update 1st?,don't know for sure we will have to wait and see.

I am on western arc and have always been first to get every update for the 922. I would speculate it is based on the fact that I have one of the first 922s, and they do the first x number for the test. I do not think that they will roll this release, it is still buggy, but perhaps the next one.

I received S118 this morning,have not had any keypad issues so far imagine DISH corrected this,so far my Weather App took awhile to load up but it finally did,will keep checking for issues.

The 2nd time I loaded my Weather App it loaded up normally.I have to say Blockbuster@ Home looks good on my 922!.

Finally S118 installed on my receiver, clouds most have opened up in NW Oregon to allow for download of software.

Will checkout the new stuff now.

So I got the S118 and I subscribed to BB@home. the quality is questionable. The HD's are about at best 720's or even lower in my opinion. I'm not impressed when compared to Vudu on the boxee. Vudu on the boxee is excellent quality.

Also what are the 10 Blockbuster channels everyone is talking about?

I don't believe this list is right as I believe Epix 3 and Sundance are also included.
