My 922 receiver decided to stop working one day a week ago so I pulled the plug to reboot since there was nothing else that would work to get the frozen video off the screen.
It rebooted fine, found the sat's, downloaded the guide, etc.
The first thing I noticed was that none of the programming was authorized although I was still able to view any of the many programs that were recorded on the dvr.
After talking with a DISH tech and more reboots, I noticed that when searching for the sats, it shows the receiver number but the smart card number was showing all 0's. There is no physical smart card. It's built into the board I'm told.
Now, because the receiver won't authorize, the use of my external harddrive won't authorize and now I cannot even transfer my recorded programming to my ext hdd!
I think that really of sucks. This is the second time I've lost recorded programs due to a 922 receiver going bad.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any solution or suggestion as to how I can either get my recordings off the hdd or a fix for the smart card number issue that DISH hasn't figured out yet?

It's odd the internal smart card would be the only thing that died but it's possible. I'd talk to Dish tech support or PM a DIRT member. They may be able to send you a smart card to plug into the front of the 922 at least to recover your recordings.

I did talk to DISH tech support and they told me there was nothing they could do.
I found that hard to believe.
I'm new to the forums. What is DIRT membership?

I recommend watching or recording everything off the DVR and then moving to a ViP722K or perhaps a Hopper/Joey.

The ViP922 is being phased out.

DIRT stands for DISH Internet Response Team, which I am a member of. If you send me a private message with your phone number or account number, I can see what options we have

I just sent Raymond a PM, he should be here soon.

You mean the other Gonzales? :p

How do I record 5 shows and stop?

starz preview on now
