921 and Channel 100

ediemash,

What?
Yes the 811 does too have channel 100, and it does have the search option!!!! Where did you get your information? Where ever you got it, it was WRONG!

Anyways, don't know why the 921 doesn't have Dish Home, last I heard they were supposed to add it to the 921, but then again they were supposed to add NBR to the 921 too which they never did! Perhaps someone that knows more about the 921 could tell you if it ever will be added.

I know you only have nine posts but if you don't know what you're talking about, it's better not to post at all as opposed to posting incorrect information. You're not helping any when you post incorrect information because someone has to come along and correct you. Try to make sure you're accurate. It helps out everyone. :) The 811 DOES have dish home as tonyp indicated.

"dish home is available on 3900, 4900, 301, 501, 508, 510, 322, 522, 625, 721, and 811 model receivers."

Yup, the 811 has both dish home and the search feature, added with p287 so if you weren't one of the lucky ones to get that update, you'll be waiting for p288.

I wanted a 942 but Dish wouldn't sell me one because I was an existing customer and my dealer offered to sell me one but it wouldn't inlclude installation which I needed.

What about the 942?

Next major release for the 921

After complaining to CEO@dishnetwork.com about the gibberish closed captioning on a 720p ota station (like our local FOX affiliate) I received a call back from tech support and was told that the next update for the 921 is scheduled for May 17. They assured me it would fix the CC bug along with many others. I called the executive offices and told them that I would like to place a bet that it wouldn't fix the CC issue and that I would like to do some type of upgrade to the 942. I was told that IF I sent in the 921 that I own they would then LET me pay $250 to be able to lease a 942. Oh yeah, like that makes financial sense!

Sounds like a great offer for Dish. They get your $999.00 dvr back and you pay another $250.00 just to lease their new receiver.

To bad though you would love the 942. If you take them up on their offer you will be so suprised on the way this receiver works. It is the difference between night and day. It makes the 921 look like a digital vcr in comparision. The 942 has 3 ota tuners and it works with real name based recording. It is like having a hybrid of Tivo and Dish with their fast guides. The best of both.

The only thing you might want to do if you do the 942 is use the atteunator that came with it , on the back of you ota antenna port. It will help you with your ota reception. It has more multi- path problems than the 921 has. The atteunator helps fix this problem.

I would take Dish up on the offer. That way you will get your 942 swapped out for the new mpeg4 version next year. Or you could wait till next year and hope they will swap out the 921. I wouldn't wait on the 942. It is the best receiver Dish has ever made. :yes

Did you notice that Directv is now selling at Best Buy ,their hd dvr for the same price now as Dish's? I think they are finally getting some competition in the hd dvr department. Dish definately has the edge now with this receiver. The Directv hd tivo doesn't allow three things at the same time to be recorded. I think this receiver may be the way they go in the future as well with 4 or 6 sat tuners and maybe more than 1 ota tuner. I only wish Dish would allow us more than one ota tuner that allows recording. Then it would be perfect.

The 921 will get Dish home just as the new MPEG-4 channels are begining to launch. So as soon as you can use it, it will be time to dump it.

Nope. Scott and others have said it will be in the next release (well, he said "major" release.... I'm assuming the next one falls into that category).
