I have been getting the 920 error (due to a tree blocking the 119 signal) I called up Directv they send a tech and he switches the Dish Setup settings to a Slimline-3 from Slimline-5. All is good till I wake up this morning and see the 920 message has returned, I do some research and find out by just changing the settings to a 3 even though I still have Slimline 5 hardware will not clear the problem.

I know this has been covered before in these forums and I know the best fix is to install a slimline 3.

But do I call Directv back have them fix it (and charge me $50 for the call out fee)Is that a cheaper option and as the 1st "fix" didn't work will they charge me again or waive it as the problem was not solved?

Or go on ebay and buy the hardware and install it myself? What do I need to buy and how hard is it to switchout?

Thanks

If D* came out to fix the problem and it didn't fix it, I'd have them come back out.
They should not charge you as the trouble is back.

If all your trying to do is make a switch from a SL5 to a SL3, yes it's easy to do.
You would have to buy the equipment though.

If D* decided that would fix the problem, they would cover cost I think.

as long as you call right away and tell them the tech did no fix the issue we will not charge. That also means dont wait till a week later to call ... call right away.
