920 dvr problem

I have replaced my 920 with a 622, the 920 is no longer turned on from dish network. I thought the 920 would be good for recording ota programs, so I hooked it up to my dish antenna leads ( both inputs) and hooked my ota antenna input to the antenna input of the 920. I am able to get the NaSA and dish info channels, but I can't get the receiver to recognize my ota signels. When I go into menu, and go to favorites, where it used to show the caption, all subscribed channels, and all channels, it reads odd symbols what you might see sometimes on a computor, possibly machine language ?. When I do a scan on ATV and Dtv channels, it shows they have been received ( 10 atv, 12 dtv) but when I go into guide the ota channels are not there. I have had the receiver check the hard drive and it shows it is normal. I have tried rebooting many times, I have also left the receiver unpluged over night, to see if it would return to normal operation. Does any one have any ideas what steps I could do to make this receiver work for me on OTA reception ?

a) this is DVR921 not 920
b) old version ( search here which one ) had the ability to pull EPG w/out sub

921 dvr ota

Sorry: receiver is a 921. I have since had the receiver authorized by dish, but the local OTA stations , though it shows when you go to scan in the menu,and that there are plenty of otas, they do not show up in the guide and cannot access them. Also I find the only way I can record on the receiver is on the program on the screen, cannot set recording by the timer. Is it possible my hard drive is bad ? Talking to a tech at Dish who told me they would send me another one if I can't figure this out, however I own this one and am not eager to exchange for a lease, as all I wanted to do originaly is use this for OTA.

Smart Cards get de-authorized if they are not hooked up for a certain time period.

It is either 30 days or 90 days.

So, you will have to call to get an authorization hit sent to it and you will have to pay the $5 for an extra receiver outlet.

Thanks but I have had dish authorize this receiver with a hit yesterday, do you think I need to call them back and tell them that they need to give me another "hit' for my smart card ?

I would just explain them what you wrote here and insist to make it works.
