Why is E* charging me $822.24 for hardware and two months of service?
Let me start by saying as a former V* customer with no access to cable, that I felt that D* or E* were my only two options for programming service. After many hours of research on this forum, I choose E* due to the lower upfront cost, my new customer status and the 10 V* channels.
On 5/13/05 with my newly acquired knowledge, I called E* to place my order. With the exception of being put on hold five different times, everything went exactly as I expected. The following is a list of what I ordered and what I was told the cost would be:
942 receiver $250.00 upgrade cost
811 receiver no charge
2nd Dish $100.00
Activation fee waived with a Club Dish referral
Credit on first bill -$49.99
American Everything Pack with Locals $63.99 for the first 3 months and $86.99 after 3 months
High Definition Package free for the first 6 months and $9.99 after the first 6 months
Voom Package $5.00 per month
Additional receiver fee $5.00 per month
DVR fee waived with the American Everything Pack
DHPP fee free for the first 12 Months (with a 1 year commitment) and $5.99 after 12 months.
The installation took place on 5/27/05 as per my request and everything went well.
Now comes the part I do not understand. I checked my statement online and was very suprised. After many minutes on the phone with someone from E*, I am still very confused.
The lady at E* told me that the two charges for switches were actually credits, but they do not appear as credits.
Perhaps someone can please explain this bill to me.
Why is E* charging me $822.24 for the hardware and two months service.
I would also like to point out that at a different location on there web site, the account balance was reported as $124.02?
It is my belief that my 1st bill should be as follows:
FYI, $250.00 for the 942 receiver and $100.00 for the 2nd dish has already been charged to my credit card.
AEP $63.99 + V* $5.00 + additional receiver $5.00 = $ 73.99.
$73.99 X 2 months service = $147.98.
$147.98 minus the $49.99 credit = $97.99.
$97.99 + tax at 9.75% = $107.54
Here is the information I downloaded from E*s website.
