811 vs. 942 Picture Quality

I have a 811 and a 942. The picture quality of the 811 does not seem to be as good as the 942. It is most noticable on SD. The 942 is connected to a Vizio 32" HDTV with HDMI cable and the 811 is connected to a Visio 20 HDTV with a DVI to HDMI cable. I notice this both on OTA and SAT.

Should the 811 and 942 have the same picture quality?

Would using component cables vs. HDMI-DVI on 811 help?

The 942 is a better receiver by far than the 811. I've got an 811 a 942 and a 622 and the 942 blows the 811 away.
