722k, 211k, etc - EHD Compatibility Question

I have the 500GB version and it works great, even though it's bus-powered. YMMV

Though many of the USB powered EHDs will work with hubs, Dish's official stance is they should be AC powered. Thus, if you would ever call over an EHD problem, they could/can wash their hands in terms of support if it is not.

Get a powered USB hub and you'll have no worries.

"...the fact that this EHD is "USB-powered" would make it incompatible with DISH's non-Hopper DVRs, correct?..."

It would be incompatible with ALL Dish receivers. Some report success. It's unknown if that success will continue over the years, or cause power supply or other problems. As stated above, put it thru a powered USB hub and you'll have no worries. And some extra options.

And, keep in mind that the EHD on a 722K and a 211K are two different animals. On a 211K an EHD makes it a DVR. On a 722K it adds a place to archive programming. The two EHDs are not compatible with each other.

HWS Potential New Issues, at least for me.
