I recieved my recievers. They where not 522's. They are the 508's. I know I have only used for 1 day but am missing my 7222 all ready. My biggest issue is the programming guide. It does not list any program information with the title without pressing the info button for every program. I really found the extra listing helpfull when looking for something to watch. Are the 522's like this also?

When watching recorded program the voices keep muting. It is not the recording because I can skip back and it will work. I hope this is just a temperary thing.

One of my recievers has gone to the transponder screen 3 times when turning on. I have a dish pro plus twin coming (from when I though I would need for 522's) and hope installing it will help with that.

The reciever that had playback problems came up with a hard drive error last night. Then it when away. Still having playback problems. My signal stength is about 75. Tried to adjust dish but that was the best it would get. Got my Dish Pro Plus twin LNB but it wont mount to existing yoke. I have been with dish for about 20yrs but at this point I am thinking about going back to cable.

If you had a 721 receiver, you should have got a 522 and not 508. I would call dish because they were also going to do the same thing to me until I told them I still needed two tuners.

I have the DP 7222's. I told them I work out of town and need them sent to my billing address. They said they would. They sent them to my service address. I do not want to go through that again. I need to just move back but would lose ABC my fav network station. I guess the best thing I can do is just go cable.

Just semantics, but what you have are DishPlayer 7200s. The designation 7222 was a package that came with a 7200 receiver and a dish500 with two legacy LNBFs.

To answer your original question, the interface on the 522 is better than on the 508, pretty close to what you are used to with the 7200 but obviously not exactly the same.

If you get a HDD error even once, that's a bad thing. I suspect that receiver is just bad. It's probably a refurb anyway. A signal strength of 75 is good. Are you getting the sound problem on both receivers or just the one? As for the receiver going showing transponder updating screen, that may be due to either bad cabling (although your SS suggests otherwise) or a bad LNB with too much drift. The 508 is very good at handling LNB drift but even it cannot overcome very large drift. Have you contacted E* tech support to troubleshoot. They'll help you with determining whether there is too much LNB drift or whatever. It'd be helpful to know what problems exist with each different receiver.

I called all american direct and they said I live in a bad signal area and should be able to get a waiver for ABC. I am going to call dish and tell them to cancel account unless they replace 508's with 522's. Both my 508's are acting up. One with hard drive problem and the other goes to transducer screen when turned on. If they agree I will tell them I am moving and will need to upgrade my dish for the 522's. Hope all goes well.

Just got off lengthly phone call with dish. They are going to replace the 508 with 625's. They said I own the 508's which I was told earlier that I leased them. I will make sure they take them when they come. One of them has hard drive problems. They said they will have to be installed so I moved back to billing address. Dish said since this is a move I will have to make a 2yr commitment. I argued about this but they would not budge. As long as I can get my ABC through american direct with a waiver I would not have a reason to cancel anyway. They waived DVR fee's for a year and will only have to pay on one of them after that. I hope she got everything right this time. Tv should not be this hard.
