I had a little problem since my dish was blown down with the high winds, i took the DVR to the living room to watch some movies, but after a while the movie would just not show up. I would press the movie and the screen would be black. I plugged in the SAT cable and it worked, even though I did not have a signal. So does that mean that I could not take my DVR to my parents house and show them a movie that i recorded. Or would it have to be connected to a SAT Dish?

I have been able to view DVR recordings during storms when the sat signal was lost on an intermittent basis, i.e. kept "popping" in and out. Of course the dish was still connected.

Thats what I was referring to, so in that case if the dish was not connected at all you would see nothing. When it would be connected to the dish and did not have signal you would be able to see the DVR recordings. So the receiver needs to know it is connected to the dish or the DVR would not work, even if there was no signal.

I can take my 622 and 942 to work without the dish hooked up and play recordings. When it is on the acquiring signal screen just press DVR and you are on your way.

Yes just as home. No dish at work. Hook audio to the sound system, HDMI to the projector. That's it.

What's the REAL reason we don't have new HD just now?
