721 Shows several hidden channels

Got an early morning wake up call last night from work. When I was done (around 2:30 MST), I turned the TV on to go to sleep. I started scrolling through the channels and found the following:

Several "FreeTV" channels. They were showing "The Pirate Channel". A chance for pirates to come clean and order service.

About 10 ABC and NBC channels. They showed as subscribed, but when I went to them, it said I didn't have a subscription.

2 or three new music channels. One spanish, one new age and I forget the other one.

4000 KCNC, couldn't watch

About 7 out of market RSNs (mine disappeared).

Several test channels in the 9000 range. One would let me see Dish Customer support app on the 721 (which is not available). One showed an interactive version of channel 101. There were choices such as Show Me How To DVR. In a small window, the broadcast from 101 was playing. Another channel showed APPTOOLS. 7 options in here. I went to the selection ALL TOOLS and the system rebooted and all hidden channels disappeared.

The good news..possibly..is that Dish Home may start returning to the 721.

I saw TNGTONY post about this about two weeks ago. It happened on only one of my two 721s. The only difference between the two machines last night is the one that showed hidden channels had the screen saver going while the other was turned off.

I have seen this happen a few times on my 721, however I have never been able to actually tune to any of those channels.

I remembered when my DishPlayer 7100 receiver I had a good while back would show the hidden channels and other people reported theirs as doing the same. The 721 software looks very similar to what the DishPlayer 7100/7200 does so I am wondering if this has something to do with that.

One morning not that long ago... my 921 showed an NBC station in the guide by my locals and I was able to watch it utill I went to work... got home that evening... nada

Sometimes when these buggy receivers don't work right, it's to our benefit!

Add the 921 to the list of 721/7100/7200. I forgot about the 921 having similar software that the 721 does.

Had the same thing happen last week on my 721, but as with others, I could not tune any of them in. I was able to set timers to record them, but they did not record anything. After a reboot of the 721, all went back to normal...
