Was there a software update or change in the guide. this has been going on for about a week.

One thing to note is that if the program guide information is "bad" (ie doesn't list the correct episode number and or original air date) the 622 defaults to record a program because it doesn't know if it is new or not (at least this is how it was on the L3.XX software, I have not run into this issue since then as the shows that I generally record have correct data). I think this is a positive so that people don't potentially miss recordings, but I can see where it would get very annoying if it was happening alot.

Sorry should be 622. As for being specific I get every episode of every show recorded even when the timer is set for new episodes. i was wondering if there has been a s/w update or a change in the data so taht the shows are not indicated as new.

Prety much constant. in fact I got 1 episodes of one show 4 times off my local PBS and I am suddenly recording prime time shows and things like Sunrise Earth that I ws skipping.

Think your running into a snag I've been hit a few times with because of the guide. 1 example is the Stargate shows. I have a timer set to only record new episodes but half the time the info in the guide for SciFi channel doesnt always list an Episode/first time shown date so it, the DVR, tries to record those as well. Not really sure but this time I think the main blame goes to the Guide ppl first tho Dish could take a hand in the matter and try to get the guide ppl to be more accurate.

I told my 622 to record new episodes of the Simpsons and all of a sudden last week it starts recording episodes from 1989. I noticed that they did not have an episode number so this could be part of the problem.

You guys may be right the guide data may be to blame. Which is why i mentioned it as a possible culprit in the first post.

It just seems pretty widespread but maybe the guide data people simply aren't providing that info.

Dish can't win, I guess.... They do not create the guide data so if it's "bad", i.e. no "original air date" data or episode #, Dish plays it safe and records it. When they do this, someone will complain that it recorded old episodes and auto-deleted some programs they'd recorded.

The situation seems to have corrected itself. Even as I look at the schedule going out it is not set to record episodes of shows that it did record this past week.

BTW I was never complaining. I just asked if anyone knew whether it was caused by the software or the guide data---and I was curious as to whether others were seeing the same thing but I seem to be alone at least in terms of this forum.

I'd like to record all 110 Northern Exposure episodes or rather when it gets beyond the third season--recorded the 40 or so of the first 3 seasons. I would need to be able to set the "new" date. These are all more than 12 years old.
Probably also for Arrested Development.
What is with some Star Trek Enterprise shows with a 2007 date? Just grumbling.

Here is what you want:

You want Dish to tell the channels: " Please send us accurate listings so we can help our customers to DVR your shows so that they can skip through your advertisements, so you can be out of a job. "

To be honest it isa stretch to relate this to skipping commercials.

Trying to retrieve HDD recordings before RMAing old 622.

Channel 9417 not accessable
