625 problems

I have a 625 dish dvr. Last night it started acting up. It won't rewind, pause or record on live tv. I can watch programs we have recorded and also watch live tv. When I try to record the red light comes on the front and the red record light shows up on the screen when you hit cancel like it should, but the program doesn't show up in the record list. When I push rewind or pause it shows a red icon on the screen with a line through it. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Thanks Pat

I never saw such a problem on my 625, but it's disk never failed. I suspect yours did. Dish replaces the whole receiver when this happens.

All your recordings would be on the disc, if it failed, none of them will be available for viewing. The channels would also not be available to you since they go through the buffer on the disc as well.

I don't agree with the above. The disk doesn't have to fail completely; some sectors may have gone bad and left the rest of the disk OK. That would explain why trick play is not available, while the older recordings are.

Most cases the receiver would reboot and work as a non dvr receiver.I have had that happen before.

Have you tried resetting the 625 to see if that helps?

Sure sounds like it's time for a replacement.Maybe you can get an upgrade to an HD 722.
