will I lose any tv1 options by having a second tv hooked up to my 622. Will it limit my options as far as recording something and watching another? Will TV2 have to be watching what tv1 is recording? Just trying to figure out exactly how the dual tuners work before my installation so that I make no mistakes.

no you wont loose TV 1 options by having TV 2 hooked up. it wont limit anything. no you can watch 2 different things at once one on TV 1 and another on TV 2. its 2 boxes put in to one except shared hard drive

Is the TV2 controller UHF only? I was considering a 622 and hooking up my existing TiVo to TV2. however the TiVo uses IR only. Will TV2 work with IR or can I buy an IR/UHF converter?

I'd like to record SD with the TiVo and use the 622 to record HD, but unless the TiVo can change channel I'm probably SOL.

Will I be able to watch one show and record another show on tv 1, while in the 2 TV setting. I dont care whats on TV2 because I will only watch it in bed while TV 1 is off. I thought having the 622 on 2 different tvs would not let me record one show and watch the other all on tv 1 which is the most important option to me. I would like to see stuff from the dvr on tv2 but not at the expence of HAVING to watch what I am recording on tv1 like I do now with my 510.

the way it works you record on TV 2 as default unless you have 2 shows recording at the same time. if recording on TV 2 you still can change channels. and you can view the same show you recorded previously on both TVs

at81: There is a mode button one the 622. Single mode - two tuners with pip functions, having shared view enabled gives you tv1 and tv2 viewing the same tuner with 2 tuners for recording. If you OTA on this setup - OTA will be available on both tv's. Dual mode - two tuners and no pip functions, tv 1 and tv2 can view two different programs at same time while still using 2 tuners for recording, tv 2 will not have OTA available live. You would have to play with both modes to figure what works for you - or you can switch modes as needed.

The 622 has a combined total of either 30 hours of HD content or 200 hours of SD content. The remote for TV 2 is ir/uhf remote. IR will not work in a seperate room.

Ah, but it will work in the same room then. I expect there is some way to differentiate between remote 1 IR and remote 2 IR? I.E. My TiVo has Echostar codes...but remote 1/2 codes must be different somehow?

522 now supports ERD?

Coax requirement for HD OTA.
