a few weeks ago i got the 311 message on my 612. couldn't watch recordings or record. i unplugged and plugged back in. it has been fine for a couple of weeks and it has the message pop up again today. i unplugged again and it is ok for now.
i think i may need to. i thought it was a one time thing when it didn't show up for awhile.I would get a replacement scheduled....

To test out the power glitch theory, you could use a UPS battery backup to feed your 612's power, if you haven't tried already. This happens to my bedroom 612 on average every month or two. Sometimes it happens every day or two, but I attribute this to power glitches. Anyhow, this has been going on for two or three years and the disk has yet to fail completely.
Recommend backing up anything you want to keep to an EHD just in case your disk is indeed failing.

I don't have a UPS. and the 612 must want FEARnet in it's guide pretty bad.To test out the power glitch theory, you could use a UPS battery backup to feed your 612's power, if you haven't tried already.
we don't really have many problems with the power here. Here in Florida, power outages, brownouts and surges, oh my! I've got 3 inexpensive UPS feeding all my computer and A/V equpiment. It's a sanity savior.
