a few weeks ago i got the 311 message on my 612. couldn't watch recordings or record. i unplugged and plugged back in. it has been fine for a couple of weeks and it has the message pop up again today. i unplugged again and it is ok for now.

This happens to my bedroom 612 on average every month or two. Sometimes it happens every day or two, but I attribute this to power glitches. Anyhow, this has been going on for two or three years and the disk has yet to fail completely.

Recommend backing up anything you want to keep to an EHD just in case your disk is indeed failing.

To test out the power glitch theory, you could use a UPS battery backup to feed your 612's power, if you haven't tried already.

i don't have an EHD but i don't have much recorded on it. i've only had it a month so far.

Here in Florida, power outages, brownouts and surges, oh my! I've got 3 inexpensive UPS feeding all my computer and A/V equpiment. It's a sanity savior.
