Just updated to Dish HD yesterday. They installed a 612 HD DVR, but used the 500 dish I dad on the roof. My signal strength seems to vary from around 35 to around 75. Everything seems a little fuzzy( HD and Standard). I'm running Monster 1000 Hdmi cables into my 71 series Samsung. Any suggestions about picture quality? Should they have upgraded my dish? Is my signal strength too low? Pleae help, I was looking forward to HD, but my old tube TV was better than this.---Thanks

P.T. Barnum was right. There is a sucker born every minute. They're the ones buying all the $150 HDMI cables when an $8 cable delivers the same data.

Anyway, change the output on your 612 to 1080i. It's probably set to 480p.

my 612 has signal strength aroung the same level. My signal quality is very good.

For a channel that is bad, got to menu->6>1>1 and look at the strength for that particular transponder.

Get the installer back out there to put up the dish appropriate to your area for either 61.5° or 129° to get the rest of your HD channels.

Cannot schedule future recording on 722!
