I currently have two dishes... one for the main chans and one for locals. I'd love to be able to drop down to a single dish... but don't know if I can based on the sat's I need to pull.

Will a super dish work for 61.5, 119, and 121?

Thanks for the info gents.

[edit] I should add - i'm not sure which sat my locals are on... but i don't have/want/need internationals so i'm not sure the reason for the 3 sats it appears i'm pulling from my setup menu. i'm assuming that 61.5 are my locals and the 119 are my other standard package chans?

The search button is your friend since this issue has been addressed 423,679 other times but we'll make it 423,680. A SuperDISH will pick up 110/119 and EITHER 105 or 121 depending on which model it is. It WILL NOT under any circumstances pick up 110/119 and 61.5. If you want 61.5, you must have at least two dishes for that programming and the main programming from 110/119. If you will tell us what city you are in, we can tell you where your locals are coming from. We aren't psychic so you'll have to be a bit more forthcoming with the info.

i realize the search button is my friend. if you notice, i'm not keen on the lingo. run a search yourself on super AND dish (notice the two seperate words which is apparently incorrect) and see how fruitful your results are. my point... i did search before. my apologies for not finding the answers i was looking for.

i do appreciate the response though. i saw some other posts about HD stuff refering to people using the superdish with the 61.5 which is why i asked. wishful thinking i suppose.

thanks again for the information. much appreciated.

as a strictly out of curriosity p.s., i notice on ebay that the superDish (which is actually listed rather frequently as "super dish"... hence my ease in finding auctions for them, as opposed to appropriate posts here... LOL) is WAY WAY more expensive than what appears to be the D* twin. why such a disparity in price? obviously the LNB's wouldn't interchange but the dishs look the same (appearance wise anyway). is there a major difference between them or something?

You still didn't say what city you are in. It's not normal to have a SuperDISH 121 if you don't have internationals or locals on 121 so I bet your locals are on 121. If you have a signal from 121, you already have a SuperDISH. It should be noted that you should have a signal from 110. There is quite a bit of programming there.

hmmm..... I'm in Medford Oregon. I just found (again) the kewl chanlist thing and it says my locals are on the 148.

okay... so i checked again. i didn't notice before on my screen down under the signal strength meter that the 61.5 and 121 sats both say "wrong satellite - 119" (well something like that anyway). and i checked 148 and 119 again and they're the only two that say "locked" under the signal meter.

i didn't see any signal on the 110... but i'm getting chans on the 110 so i don't know what's going on there. very strange.

so it would seem i wasn't correct before. i'm pulling the 119 and 148 only (and i've gotta be pulling the 110 even though it doesn't show as such on the setup screen). the other signals must be just residual (or whatever you want to call it).

still no super dish though. :( damn... i really wanted to lose one of the dishes. lol.

Where is 110? You must not even have a DISH500. Are you a long-time customer? Newer customers should have a DISH500 for 110/119. I'm really confused on this one.

sorry i edited my post while you were writing you reply.

but nm anyway... i must have done something wrong before. i just checked again and i'm getting a "locked" for the 110 as well. so all makes sense now. sorry about that. lol.

both my dishes are dish500's.

LOL! So, so far, you have claimed to have 61.5, 110, 119, 121, and 148. The only one left is 105. Maybe if you check again, it'll be there too! :D

lol... well it's true!!! i am getting a signal from all of those. i'm just only actually getting channels from 3 of them. 3 out of 5 aint bad right?! lol.

It's impossible. You couldn't be getting signals from all of those. You said you only have two dishes. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of using two dishes to receive that many locations. A SuperDISH can get 110, 119, and 121. The second dish could get EITHER 61.5 or 148, not both. You aren't getting signals from all of those.

then someone spiked my pepsi with meth cuz when i run through the various sats to check for signal... i get the following signal readings:

61.5 = "Wrong Sat - EchoStar 119 West Signal Strength 80"

110 = "Locked - EchoStar 110 West Signal Strength 79"

119 = "Locked - EchoStar 119 West Signal Strength 80"

121 = "Wrong Sat - EchoStar 119 West Signal Strength 80"

148 = "Locked - EchoStar 148 West Signal Strength 79"

so there you have it. now either i'm getting a signal on those and the message means that i need to be getting my signal from the 119 (which i am) or it means that those readings are from the 119 sat and just showing up as the other sats.

in any case, you seem to like to create arguments where they aren't needed. i'm not trying to convince you of anything - nor did i try to prove that i'm doing something that's impossible - nor was i trying to be rude or disrespectfull of anyone in any way... i simply relayed the information displayed on my screen... lighten up or don't reply anymore.

Why are you getting mad at me? I'm not tense. I'm just trying to help you and explain that it's not technically possible to get all of those locations with two dishes. I'm not being hostile towards you. I didn't create an argument. It's just the technical facts. I don't even see an argument but I do think "Wrong Sat" is pretty self-explanatory. Since you think I'm being hostile and starting an argument when I'm just trying to help you, I guess I better just stop. Good luck.

Edit to your edit:

I don't know what I posted that was rude but what I posted are the straight facts. It's not technically possible. It doesn't matter what your screen says: it's not a possiblity. I was simply trying to convey that information. You were just giving the information and so was I. If you think CAPS are rude, I just use those for emphasis like voice inflection. When you're typing, you have no voice so you have to use other methods. I still don't see ANYTHING that even remotely resembles an argument so I don't know what you're talking about. I will honor your request and will help you no more.

Chaddux, I equate your helpful "straight facts" information to the infamous "No wire hangers" and choking scenes from the movie Mommie Dearest. Honestly, does "The search button is your friend since this issue has been addressed 423,679 other times but we'll make it 423,680" sound the least bit helpful to you?

Just a reminder: everyone seeking assistance is still welcome to post their questions in the VOOM Forum without being chastised, mocked or belittled.

well... whether you meant to or not, not only did your posts seem condescending to me but i took the caps as yelling... not as just a simple emphasis. however, if i took your post wrong... my sincere apologies.

at any rate unless you think i'm lying about what my screen says, my screen is reading a signal from those sats. now i don't know what that msg means... but there is a signal there for sure.

at any rate... my initial question was answered. no hard feelings. i appreciate the assistance.

I don't know how often people yell three words in the middle of a sentence but CAPS is certainly the normal standard for yelling. However, it's normally a whole sentence and not a small phrase in the middle of the sentence. (If you read my sentence aloud and yell those three words, it doesn't really fit.) I should probably use bold or underline instead so I guess I'm partly at fault. My apologies. And also, certainly no hard feelings.

And to riffjim: I took "The search button is your friend" from BFG. I don't see you plastering him with any of your cute little movie equations.

When you select a satellite that you are not receiving, the receiver gives the wrong sat message and just shows whatever sat you were previously on. So, you only have the sats that you see as locked. Further, if you highlight the Switch option in the signal strength screen, and hit select, it will show you the installation summary screeen, and show you which satellites you are actually receiving. And, no, the is no E* SuperDish that can receiver the 110/119/148, which is what you have. You can however get what's called a Torriodal dish that CAN do that, but it is not a cheap or easy option, and it won't work with DP LNBs AFAIK.

kewl. thanks for the clarification lary. i've heard of those torriodal dish's i think. they are the ones that look like giant snow shovels aren't they?

i'll just deal with the two dishes for now. i don't have any choice.

Yeah - I've not heard of any mirrored DP LNBs either. :(
