If I buy a replacement 522 unit on EBay or the open market, will I have difficulty getting Dish Network to activate it?

Before you buy any receiver on eBay, ask for the Receiver and Serial numbers. Call Dish Network and verify by giving them those numbers that it can be activated. If the seller doesn't want to give them to you, something is wrong and move to the next one.

Very good idea.I have bought more than a few on ebay and only got burned once(that's enough)it was a 510 and there was about 400 still owed and the seller would not refund so I ate it.

I had to fax dish my paypal receipt this morning because all of a sudden the 522 I bought off ebay last sept was now showing up as a leased receiver on my account. It was fine up until this pasts months bill and they charged me the leased receiver fee. So I had to fax my paypal receipt to prove that I actually own it. I would think that they could tell by the receiver number if it was leased or not.

That would piss me off if I saw my receivers go from own to lease all of a sudden. Is this something new that Dish Network is trying to pull on these? I hope that was a one time error.
