522 intallation question

Hi everyone, fine looking site you guys have here.

I just got a 522 that's ready to activate, I have a Dish 500 with two single lnb's and two SW21's that were originally installed for my two 301's. My question is what is the easiest way to install the 522, do I just run two coax cables to the back of the reciever then run another coax to the 2nd room? Or is there an easier way to do it?

Yes, that's the easiest, assuming you don't want to connect one or both of your 301's at the same time.

Yes, I just want to use the 522. The 301's are desubbed now.
One more question, Do I just run the coax from the 522 to the 2nd TV by itself, no RCA cables are needed? I have never had a dual tuner so I am unfamiliar with the setup.

Umm... yes they will run the receiver. No problem with Legacy LNB's as long as he's getting both 110 and 119 on both 522 inputs. DP receivers are backwards-compatible with legacy LNBs. Probably the easiest setup would be a Twin Plus and one cable to a separator, but legacy stuff will work (especially since it's already in place).

Malden, you can run coax or RCA cables as the 522 outputs both. Whatever floats your boat!

Yes, that will work. You can run the RF output, both sound and video, over a single coax (RG-6 or RG-59 with F connectors) to TV2. Alternatively, you can run the composite video and separate L+R audio over 3 RCA cables to your TV2. These too are actually coaxial cables, but you generally don't call them that when RCA plugs are on both ends. The RCA cables should give you slightly better PQ than the RF-modulated TV2 output.

Legacy switches and LNB's will work with ANY Dish Network receiver.

Will the 522 work if I only use the TV1 input in with the coax coming from the SW21 and forget about the 2nd TV? Something came up and I won't be able to run the coax until later.

You won't be able to complete a correct check-switch. Basically, you'll be limping along. Probably easier to get a Twin Plus LNB and separator if you can't run a second signal line.

First, I want to thank everyone for their help, I have learned something new. Well, I got a Dish Pro Plus and a separator, from what I gather. I connect the separator to the two coax cables coming from the LNB'S then run the single line to the 522. Correct? Do I still have to run a line from the 522 to the 2nd TV?

NO! The separator goes on dual-tuner receivers. You run one cable from DPP gear to the receiver.

Yep! You can have up to four tuners running the Twin Plus (i.e. two 522's).

The input is for a wing dish, say if you wanted to hit the 61.5, 129, 148, etc.

Did I see above that you replaced the legacy twin with a DPP twin? If so, both it's outputs are DPP, meaning that you can use one cable to each of two dual-tuner receivers such as a 522. The separator that comes with dual tuner receivers is then hooked up on the end of the cable with the two included 6" cables going to the two tuner inputs.

The extra input on the DPP twin is for a separate DishPro LNB pointed a 3rd satellite. Were you to add another dual tuner HD receiver, then you will probably need to use that input for the 3rd satellite carrying your HD locals, such as the sat at 129 or 61.5, depending upon where you live. I think you can get a free dish out of Dish if you subscribe to HD and don't have the equipment for it.
