522 basic instructions needed - appearantly I'm missing something

newly installed 522 running in dual mode. Both TV's working OK as far as I know. Am I supposed to be able to schedule a recording on TV1, while watching another live program on TV1?

This is assuming that TV2 is watching another live program. Whenever I tell it to record, but then attempt to change the channel while it is recording, it cancels the recording.

I'm coming from TWC's DVR, and had assumed this one would work in a similar fashion - am I wrong?

MENU-8-6

ENABLE then set it to TV2.

Do the same for TV2.

You can only watch a previously recorded item on TV1 if you are recording on TV1

Same with TV2.

You cannot watch live and record at the same time on the same TV.

Thanks for the quick responses. Other than the initial problems of getting TV2 working without an active phone line, it looks pretty good so far...

That's confusing wording to me.

You CAN watch live and record at the same time - as long as it's the same show.

To put it another way, there's 2 tuners, therefore 2 channels can be received at any given time. These two shows can be watched and/or recorded. In addition, you can watch any previously recorded show at any time.
