510 and Auto Shutoff?

Did not work for me since I remember leaving the receiver on around 11 or 12 am and came back around 8 am and it was still on! Will try it tonite again..its abt 10:45pm..now I shall check it back tomorrow morning...does it switch off? When I switched on the tv the other day, the channel was still tuned in...so obviously the receiver did not switch off...will report back.

I have noticed that my 510 will come on at about 3 05 am in the morning for about 10 seconds or so and then turn back off itself, the record light does not come on just the green light. I do not have the tv on so I dont what comes up on the screen at that time. I also notice the green light flashing on and off at around 4 am on my 721 but figure it is downloading updated EPG info.
Ok..checked in the morning. Saw the screen saver this time. I wish the receiver had an option where we could set a time when to shut off rather than depending on the player...
As per Kevin, it only stands by and not shut off "if you don't use any buttons on it or the remote between midnight and 4:00 am". Nice a great thing. Why not shut off....don't kno what they were thinking here!

Unh. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Very little if any consumer electronics truly "shut off" any more. ANY device that can be "turned on" from a remote does not "shut off", but only goes into "stand by". If it truly shut off, you wouldn't be able to turn it on from a remote.
