What will they send for a replacement for the 508 that is going back for a bad hard drive?
I did not ask the CS rep. What is the new model number for the PVR's?
My problem was after getting the 811 a couple of months ago, I let the 508 sit there. When I went to use it it downloaded the new software version and would not work. Gave bad smart card fault.
First CS rep. went through and ending up sending a "hit" to my unit. Waited an hour, then got the bad hard drive message and called back. 2nd CS rep. was able to get the tuner working, but not the hard drive.
Question, should I unplug the unit for longer than 15 seconds as he reoomended and try to see if the HD will spin back up? CSR told me sometimes after pulling power cord they will run for ahwile. Read on another web site something about 2:20 being a "magic" number.
Anyway, have a RMA number for this one to go back and new one is being shipped. It worked great for over a year, never a hiccup, but i guess it did not like sitting a month without the drive moving..
