501 DVR not working

I have a 501 DVR and it quit working. It cannot find the satellite signal.
I ran the switch test and it tells me there is a connection problem.
I swaped it with a 301 I have in another room to see if the connections were the issue but the 301 works fine in both rooms.
I can still access my recordings on the DVR with no problems.
Could this be a bad card. Dish Network wants to send someone out for at least $50.
Anyone know what could be the issue before I call for the tech visit?

Pretty much if another box works at original 501 location, the IRD is probably dead. Call and add DHPP for $5.99 / mnth, hangup and call back and it'll be a $29 charge. You might be able to ask them to just send it to you vs having a tech come out to do the same thing you can do.

It's possible if they send it to you they might not charge the $29 fee (that is you added dhpp).

Alot of it depends on how well of a paying customer you are, what package you have, basically how profitable you are, that and what mood the CSR is in.
