Just saw this in a e-mail from DISH:

4K on Channel 146, not the standard 540 4K channels for once.

Super Bowl LIX pregame - February 9, 2025 1:00PM ET
Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles Kickoff - February 9, 2025 6:30pm ET

This actually is a big ho hum. All 146 does is to jump over to 540-01. 146 does not appear on the 4K Joey guide while it does appear on the Hopper 3. It does not appear on non 4K receivers either.

Just as an aside, if you usually watch these 4K/HDR events via the FoxSports app, you will not find this year's Super Bowl there this year. You have to go over to the Tubi app instead. As normal you will not see HDR on an Apple TV box, just 4K. That is unless you force HDR on the box itself and in my opinion that's just not the same. It works fine on ROKU.

The pregame feed on now. It looks excellent on the Dish 4K feed. I also have YouTube TV and Tubi. The feeds themselves are identical, but the Hopper 3 has a slight red push, vs the sets where I am using the Joey 4. Not a huge difference, but I will probably watch on my Hisense 75U7K since that TV has my best HDR pic.

As often is the case, I have audio only. Sony Bravia 83" and high quality HDMI cable. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?
Try unplugging the HDMI cable from the Hopper and plug it back in. You may well need to replace that cable. I have many HDMI cables in my setup and they are all like this one:

Your cable needs to be certified and it need not be some overpriced super duper you need this cable claim. Now, you didn’t tell us your equipment configuration. Are you going directly from the Hopper to the TV or to an AVR and then the TV?

I have several "high speed" certified HDMI cables, and all give the same results. Length is only 6 ft. Direct from H3 to HDMI input on TV. (I have the same Monoprice cables)

Sometimes everything's there on playback, but today I don't even have audio on playback.

I appreciate the suggestions!

Just for jeepers try a different HDMI input on the TV.

Thx, just tried that but no joy. You know what the diff is between Standard and Enhanced HDMI signal format is on the Sony? Neither worked. Is it possible my H3 is bit challenged?? ;)

Hard to say. Are you able to audio video of regular channels? You might try to go to channel 305, Gallery, and drop down to the 4K shelf. Pick an event. Are you able to get audio video there?

All is well on regular channels. I wasn't a subscriber to Gallery, but it wouldn't let me when I tried...

I appreciate your time. I've got to get into game mode. Thanks!

I am not seeing either channel 146 or 540-01 in my guide. Have uploaded the guide and reset my Hopper 3. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have also checked my locked channels so that is not the problem.

In the past, if the timer happens to fire before actual programming begins, sometimes it never picks it up.

My timer fired and recorded and I can watch the 4K broadcast on my Panasonic 720p plasma TV. Not 4K (converted to 720p) but nice picture.

Strange, because my H3 even attached to a 720p plasma TV still has recording ability and when it says my TV cannot display the program, I just hit cancel and there it is!
Are you viewing a favorites guide list? Go to Parental Controls [Home][Home][Parental Controls] and look at your locked channels making sure 540-X channels are NOT LOCKED.

I didn't notice if they went dark for a few moments between the pregame show and the game, if that could have tricked the timer. I actually watched the game on the Sony's OTA tuner. Looked pretty good. Thanks
