I think non-hdr tvs will get 4k, also might be a good idea to make sure your Dish Tv setting is set to 4k.

That is what I am getting at my H3 that is connected to a non-4K TV.and we are seeing multiple reports that non HDR TVs are not getting 4K, just incompatible TV messages.
OK I have discovered my issue...if I pass the Hopper straight to the LG, then it works. If I pass it through my Denon X4300, I get the error screen. All connections using Premium Certified HDMI cables from Monoprice. So for some reason the Denon is the issue. The Denon is fully 4k callable so it SHOULD be able to pass whatever it's given my the Hopper.I'm getting the "Attention Format Not Supported" 1540 error as well. I see a program scheduled for 1pm CST for Olympic coverage for 2.5 hours, and it will not even allow me to set a timer for it
Can anyone else set a timer?
Just upgraded yesterday to AT120 as the rep said that was the lowest package that would provide the Olympics HD feed. The tech on the phone was told by his support people that AT200 is required...I sure wish Dish could communicate better to themselves and to their customers!
Today I called Tech Support, they're filing a ticket as they admitted the issue sounds like it's on their end, since my TV fully supports HRD (OLED65C7P)

Yes, I have an X2300 that has the update and it passes HDR just fine.X4300 needs a firmware update to support HDR.
WOW, what a picture.Programming has begun! I am watching free skate from yesterday right now.
Thanks for the idea, but it passes HDR and DV just fine from my Opppo and ATV4K. I'm on the most current firmware available to the public on the 4300.X4300 needs a firmware update to support HDR.

Yes, I am seeing HDR10 at my Vizio going through the Denon. So you're successfully passing your Hopper 3 through your Denon 2300 and getting HDR? No matter what I do, the only way I'm getting HDR from Hopper 3 is running it directly to the LG. I have no issues with any other HDR (or even DV) signal passing through the Denon. Weird.
I called my TV manufacturer who is telling me that HDR is a hardware feature and my set does not have that hardware and will not be able to receive the HDR signal. I was hoping it was firmware and I could get an update.According to AVS forum you should be able to watch 4K HDR content on a non HDR TV. The HDR signal is just ignored but you still can receive the high resolution. It would be similar to watching a program with Dolby surround sound on a TV that only supports stereo.
I would check with Dish an your TV manufacturer to find out why your TV is showing up as not compatible. Are you using the correct HDMI input? Some TV’s only have one HDMI input that produces 4K. Hopefully, you will find a solution that works for you.

Perhaps the Denon was released before HDCP 2.2 became a real thing. I have a newish Onkyo receiver that has three 2.2 hdmi inputs and three that are standard hdmi.So you're successfully passing your Hopper 3 through your Denon 2300 and getting HDR? I went and checked the specs of the Denon. Seems up to date and I see no reason it should reject a signal.Perhaps the Denon was released before HDCP 2.2 became a real thing. I have a newish Onkyo receiver that has three 2.2 hdmi inputs and three that are standard hdmi.
Yep, they still work, you definitely won't get HD or 4K on the yellow wire though.I am surprised the RCA out ports on my H3 still work while watching channel 540 in 4K HDR mode. I was under the impression they wouldn't for some reason. My wireless headset and RF modulator both are fed from my H3 RCA out ports and they still work.
My H3 RCA ports go to RF modulator then thru coax to my home distribution spitter. Used primarly for Hopper syncing to all my home TVs. Doesn't need to be HD or 4K. I am sure glad it still works.Yep, they still work, you definitely won't get HD or 4K on the yellow wire though.
