While visiting Costa Rica I ran into a guy that had a 20' C-Band set up, using a 4D receiver. He's lost his programming and I told him I would try to help him get setup so he could get some TV.

Can the 4D receiver be used for KU?

His LNB

KU ready?

Thanks

Can you add a KU LNB or will it require a whole new setup?
In other words can it be made to do both?

I was over at Lyngsat
Galaxy 18 at 123.0°W - LyngSat
and saw that there is a ton of stuff on C-Band as well as KU.

I'm trying to figure out how to advise the guy so he can get the most bang out of his system.

Will he need a separate receiver to get all the KU Channels like I am getting (RTN)?
Does anyone know who sells subscriptions to the pay C-Band channels listed?

I think for him it would be good to get his dish pointed to one bird and get it all dialed in as he's not a hobbyist and doesn't have a hobbyist's knowledge or desire to figure it all out.

For RTN on G-18 you need a DVB receiver, but I would wait on it since Equity may be shutting down whats still left there and put it on AMC-9 at 83w. Everything is up in the air right now for RTN because of money :(
