It's not the antenna or LNBF or cabling since the DVB signals are OK. It's acting like there is an intermittent loss of signal on the 4DTV.

[edit] Strange deal. The 4DTV works OK when connected to the DC passthru on the HFS-2 but is performing poorly on the DC blocked port. It was working on the DC blocked port until today. Not only that, the FTA receiver works fine on either port. And when the 4DTV is connected to the DC blocked port, the DCII is good on T7 but intermittent on W5. Any ideas? Now, it doesn't look like a problem with the 4DTV or the cabling but something weird with the HFS-2.

Replace the splitter. These things are junk inside see if you can find a commercial unit.

Do you have a source for commercial grade HFS-21's? I've searched with Google for "commercial grade HFS-21" and found several places with prices ranging from $0.89 to about $30. Some sites mention the use of diodes but I'm not sure if that's a "plus or minus" to the quality or if the price is an indicator of quality.

One of the Google "hits" is MidSouth Wire and Cable-SATELLITE SPLITTERS, Splitters.

Splitter

I made my own. See splitter in corner of avatar. I used a old antenna switch and stripped it out jumped 2 connectors and installed 100 pf capacitors on rest of connectors for DC block. I tried wiring across using a old antenna splitter and lost some frequencies. Need to keep F connectors in a straight line. a small metal box will work too for an enclosure. I have these on both "C" and "KU" lnbs a high quality LNB will help too and the price is low. :D

I have an old 1990 commercial unit and it has no diodes. The diodes tend to blow so one without the diodes is better.

Too bad that I scrapped all those Motorola antenna switches at work. Oh well. I'm trying not to be a "pack rat". Sometimes things laid around for a decade so I started scrapping stuff after a couple of months.
