You can set up a manual timer.

Just do a checkswitch and the guide will populate....

As the recent past has shown, none of them are permanent. They're free to be taken away at any time...

You don't need to wait for the overnight reboot. Do a Menu+8+4 (Updates) and set the timer for 2 or 3 minutes from your current time, exit and shutdown. Remember to reset the update time after you are done. Wait for the reset, it will take 5 to 7 minutes and the guide may not fill completely for a couple more minutes. Be sure no timers are ready to fire and that both tuners are off.
