I believe an indoor amp won't help on your diplexed coax. I think you could use your OTA amp IF you run a separate coax from the amp to the power inserter and the after the inserter a run to the diplexer. Maybe someone else can think of a way!

Find a way to inject the preamp power out at the tv antenna. In other words, the power injector would have to be BETWEEN the preamp, and the diplexer input out at the dish.

Which might mean running another coax, as Harshness mentioned. Though, if there's any chance there's an AC outlet close enough to that connection in which case you'd only have to run a shorter coax for preamp power.

I pulled the amp out and ran a line straight to the diplexer. All the local channels come in now! The DVR has a really good OTA tuner.

Some OTA amps won't pass signal when un-powered - glade it works with out an amp!

How close are you to the TV towers?

It depends on the tower. Anywhere from 15-30 miles. Sometimes I get a station from 60 miles. I live on a ridge, so that helps.

I built my own antenna from online plans. I had a huge Radio Shack antenna once, but only got about 40 channels.

The receiver only works with a diplexer.

But a pre-amp won't work with a diplexer so you have to do the diplexing inside by using a second cable.

Of course now that we know you didn't need the amp, I guess you threw us a red herring.

This is possibly the most sensitive OTA tuner I’ve ever seen. I get all the channels I got with the amp, except for one LPTV, which is running only 3000 watts!

I got the GeoSat Pro LNB connected. My SS went up about 4-5 points! I did another local channel scan, and it now gets every channel, even low power. My wife and kids are really happy I got it all working.

It is really well built. It fits snug in the bracket, so it’s easy to fine tune. You move it 20 degrees either way, and the signal drops off completely. Other ones I’ve used aren’t as accurate. Does it matter how far back it is? I get a little better signal with it pushed all the way in.

It's really just a matter of experimentation. If you get better signal with it pushed all the way in, then it's OK to leave it there

I thought so. It gets about 94 at the dish, 84 with 125’ of coax and the diplexer. There was a lot of rain the other day, but no rain fade. It must be the bigger dish and the 2/3 FEC they’re using.
